The purpose of this mission is to locate a lost fishing net.
The City Council of Nice has been working for several months now on a protocol for raising lost nets that includes a phase of filmed prospection essential to the success of each operation. This is a crucial step, as the film brought back to the surface will allow scientists to rule out of the water and with a rested head the state of nesting of the species in the mesh of the net. This will allow divers to confirm whether or not extraction is possible. And if so, how can we do it without taking risks for divers and without causing too much damage to underwater species. That’s where our robots come in! Their onboard camera will allow us to move efficiently and gather as much information as possible for scientists without altering the environment or taking any risks.

In collaboration with the fishermen of Nice, the Metropolis of Nice Côte d’Azur, the City of Nice as well as Click-Dive, we helped to locate the fishing net lost at sea. Reported by the fisherman to the Metropolis and the City of Nice, this ghost net was found at a depth of 65 metres.
The images shot during the operation will be sent to the GhostMed teams to define if the net can be reassembled. Case to follow…
